How do I file a lien against a property for monies owed?

Someone owes me money for a loan and I would like to put a lien on their property so if the house sales or gets foreclosed, I will get my money back

Well, normally, you can't do it. The fact that somebody owes you money does not generally gives you the lien right. Check your state laws.
