Total Distance:
If you are transporting your pets with your car, then whether it's possible or not depends on how long the total transport distance is. This might not be a problem for a few hundred miles within a city, but if you are moving your car to a different city or state, then it's not possible for the pet to stay inside a car for that long. Your pet can get agitated or anxious from being inside the vehicle for that long.
Furthermore, the total time it takes to move a car from point A to B varies depending on road conditions, weather, time of the year, and more. So leaving your pet for an uncertain amount of time inside a car might not be practical. However, if you're getting expedited car shipping, then moving the pet with the car to another city might also be possible.
Company Policy:
Whether or not you can transport your pet inside a car also depends on the policies of the car transport company. Some companies have a strict limit to the transport of extra weight with the vehicle, and your pet may not be allowed because of that.
Moreover, car shipping companies are licensed to transport vehicles and not anything else. So this can also mean you might not be allowed to move your pet with the car if the company is extra cautious about vehicle transport policies.
Then there is also the insurance policy problem; companies have cargo insurance that only covers the vehicle and not the extra cargo inside. In case your cat or dog gets ill or lost during the move, the company will not be liable for that.

Some states have laws regarding the entry of some breeds or species that fall under the dangerous category. Although it's a controversial topic, most states restrict or prohibit the entry of some dog breeds. Others allow entry of these breeds but require the dog to be muzzled when in public, or wear an identification sign, etc. So make sure to check the state's laws before planning on moving your pet to a state.
So How to Transport Your Pet Safely?
The best way to move your pet is via pet transport companies. There is an abundance of such companies that exclusively move pets across cities, states, and even countries.
They have the equipment like special crates, fleets, and trained drivers to ensure your pet reaches the destination safely and on time.
Alternatively, you can also ship your pet with your car but not through a car transport carrier. Instead, you will have to hire a driver who will drive your vehicle to the destination while your pet is in the car.
You will have to arrange for a crate and safely strap it on one of the car seats or inside the trunk to ensure your pet stays put throughout the journey.
