one thing I learned a couple of weekends ago is that it is a good idea to have things sorted by what they are. Sports stuff together, kitchen, toys, books etc.  Also, don't be afraid to say "Make an Offer" whenever someone shows interest. Most of the time people will offer you more than you might have priced the item for in the first place.

I MYSELF, MAKES SURE EVERYTHING IS PRICED AND SORTED AND IN ITS RIGHT PLACE. WITH CLOTHING I HAVE A 1/2 PRICE RACK ON THE SECOND DAY IF IM DOING A WEEKIN . HAVE AN ARTICLE THAT WILL ATTRACT THEM IN , OUT INFRONT ! CLOTHING IS VERY MUCH IN DEMAND AND SO I WASH WHAT NEEDS TO BE WASHED AND MAKE SURE ALL THE AREA IS DIRT FREE AND CHAIRS FOR HUSBANDS TO SIT AND WAIT FOR THEIR SPOUCE! LOL AND FOR ELDER'S. MY PARTNER AND I REALLY ENJOY GIVING THEM ACOUPLE OF TIMES A YEAR. ITS A CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS AND PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN YOUR AREA. GOOD LUCK !

If you're not selling "TRASH" then call it something other than a Garage/Yard sale!! I was selling the contence of my shop. Everything was brand new, so I called it a Sidewalk Sale and I was able to ask for and recieve higher prices for my merchandise. So my advice is to call it sometghing else.

one answer I can give you is that you should sell it on the internet like kind of like an auction. And add a little something to it and see if the people like what you did!
